Introduction

This course is designed for students who want to extend their theoretical knowledge and associated techniques to a higher level. Students focus on one of the two areas, although coursework and research may be carried out in both areas. The degree is suitable for those who plan to pursue careers as professional economists or finance specialists in both public and private sectors or in academia.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A degree or equivalent in commerce majoring in economics and/or finance with a high course weighted average. A honours degree in economics or finance, a postgraduate diploma in commerce (economics and finance), or completion of a professional masters ineconomics and/or finance or related field with an above average academic performance.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The duration of this course is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study. For entrants with a bachelor degree in Finance, Economics or other appropriate field the course can be completed in three full-time semesters.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
