Syllabus: |
The rapidly developing corporate citizenship agenda or corporate social responsibility. Corporate citizenship deals with the commitment of business to contribute to sustainable economic development, working with employees, their families, the local communities and society at large, to improve their quality of life. It includes, areas as diverse as human rights, employee rights, environmental protection, supplier relationships, monitoring and stakeholder rights. The recent evolution of the corporate citizenship agenda will be reviewed, in relation to changing perceptions on values, compliance and respect for people, communities and the environment. It is argued that corporate citizenship is a worthwhile investment in the future prosperity of the organisation. Presents and critiques evolving best practice approaches for organisations to develop and implement effective corporate citizenship programs that bring value to the organisation and its stakeholders. |
