Syllabus: |
Concepts of research methods and designs; inference and causation; review of descriptive and analytical epidemiology, clinical, animal, cellular and molecular studies. Ability to interpret, evaluate and critique nutrition research including critical analysis of landmark nutrition studies. Ability to apply descriptive and basic inferential statistical to the statistical analysis of data collected in a group project. Reporting on the results of the group project including the statistical analysis, and presentation of data, the interpretation and discussion of results, including the identification of study limitations and sources of measurement error and discussion on the impact of these on the generalisation of the study results. Outline the concept of evidence based nutrition and application of criteria to nutrition research. Identify the unique challenges of evidence based approach as it applies to nutrition research. |
