Introduction
Sustainable management of aquatic resources and fisheries is based on a sound understanding of the science and technology of these disciplines as well as on economics and natural resources management principles. This course focuses on developing an understanding of fisheries management, resource economics and sustainability and environmental management. Graduates of the program are equipped to pursue careers in government agencies responsible for fisheries management, environmental management and in private companies whose operations involve utilising freshwater and marine resources. The curriculum offers the generalised learning program which emphasises analytical, management, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. It also engages studentsin the practice of science and technology and management of fisheries and other aquatic resources through appropriate practical programs.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
None. TEE mathematics subject, chemistry, and biology are desirable. Additionally for Aquaculture or Aquatic Resources - accounting and economics are also desirable. Applicants who have not passed TEE mathematics will be required to pass an approved bridging unit.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Recognition may be awarded for approved TAFE units.
Duration and Availability
The course is three years full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Course Organisation
Visits to commercial enterprises in Western Australia are a vital part of the course.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
