First semester of a two semester unit which will review the principle seismic methods for characterising oil and gas reservoirs. The aim of the reservoir characterisation is to understand interwell heterogeneities so that hydrocarbon recovery can be improved. In this context improved means increased recovery at current oil and gas prices, rather than enhanced recovery which indicated greatly increased prices and the use of floods, surfactants and so on. |
