Properties of particulate solids. Particle size analysis. Mechanics of granular solids. Containment of solids. Flow and discharge of solids. Handling of solids. Transport of solids by fluids. Horizontal transport of solids. Fluid-solids transport systems. Properties and sampling of particulate solids. Storage, blending, handling and transport of solids. Breakage of solids by crushing and grinding. Agglomeration of powders. Particle size analysis, sizing and hydraulic classification of particles. Gravity and dense media separation, magnetic separation, electrostatic separation, froth flotation and ore sorting. Processes for handling concentrates and tailings, and environmental considerations.
