Encourages a practical engagement with the ideas of contemporary art. It seeks to provide technical and conceptual development through skills acquisition and idea articulation. It recognises the importance of an awareness of traditional and contemporary skills and concepts from a wide range of visual arts media. Students will work within and between these media to undertake solutions to set projects through self/staff initiated research and independent learning. Students will undertake a number of staff initiated projects/specialisations within the visual arts amongst which include two of the following nine disciplines, but are not limited to fibre/textiles, ceramics, painting, print media, sculpture, jewellery/three dimensional design, electronic arts, audio visual installation and performance and photography. Students are expected to develop their own research base using a variety of search techniques and develop recording skills to document their findings. |
