Nomenclature of faults, displacements and fault separations. Pure and simple shear, progressive deformation and particle paths both two and three dimensional. Quantitative strain analysis. Shear zones and kinematic indicators. Superimposed folding. Folding mechanisms and fold development. Mechanical properties of rocks. Deformation mechanisms and microstructures. Use of stereographic projection in interpretation of structures. |
