Introduction
This Masters by coursework is designed for information systems professionals who recognise the need to increase their knowledge or skills in the management and strategic application of information systems in competitive, intelligent, global business environments. The program combines theory, research and practice and incorporates a range of new concepts, methodologies and technologies relating to information systems management.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Necessary for entry into Stage I, candidates must hold a degree in computing - related or business discipline from a recognized Australian tertiary institution or an equivalent qualification. For entry into Stage II of the course, a candidate must hold aPostgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Management. No Information Technology/Information Systems industry experience is required for entry into Stage II of the program.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Students who have already completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Management may apply for recognition of prior learning for up to a total of 200 credits. No exemptions will be given, although units may be substituted at the School's discretion. Other units may be approved by the Manager Postgraduate Programs.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is four semesters full time or equivalent part-time study.

Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Management may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award, subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.

Course Organisation
The core areas studied in Stage I include - managing information systems project and risks, business information technology management, problem solving, information security management, object oriented design, advanced enterprise systems modeling, datamining and advanced database management and research methods. Stage II incorporates - advanced coursework involving business intelligence and cyberwarfare, strategic alignment of information systems, and new paradigms in E-Business. Students may choose toundertake a research project or optional units covering strategies for web management, enterprise network security, object oriented programming, computer forensics or statistical data analysis.

Professional Recognition
With a prior computing related degree graduates may apply for membership of the Australian Computer Society.

Career Opportunities
Masters graduates generally find employment in management and leadership roles within private and public organisations employing information systems in a management context.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
