Introduction
This course combines the management and business emphasis of Curtin's established Master of Business Administration program with the financial and economic industry focus of the Masters program in Mineral Economics. The former course is designed for practising managers wanting to develop skills in identifying, analysing and developing strategies for management opportunities and problems. It provides a broad coverage of the key functional disciplines of business and management, and the opportunity to develop a specialisation or pursue extensive development of business competencies. The latter degree has built a strong student support since its introduction by the Western Australian School of Mines as a "block-release" executive-style course in 1993.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A four year undergraduate degree, or its equivalent from a recognised university, and three years work experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study in semesters, trimesters and flexible package formats.

Course Organisation
Units in the Master of Science (Mineral Economics) program are typically available over three week periods in four and eight day modular blocks to meet the needs of resources sector professionals working in remote or distant locations. Units in the Master of Business Administration are available in semester, trimester and flexible package formats. The course is available in a combination of formats, ranging from intensive block-release face-to-face teaching by high profile resident and visiting faculty,to on campus trimester units and flexible delivery formats which involve face-to-face and online components. Students complete eleven core units for the Master of Science (Mineral Economics) and five core units for the Master of Business Administration plus four half optional units - two from the Mineral Economics program and two from either the Non Technical graduates list or the Technical graduates list or alternatively two units from the optional Master of Business Administration list. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
