BTech(Curtin)

Introduction

This course has been introduced to address a significant market demand for skills associated with the design of distributed computing environments and the networks that underpin them. It encompasses computer technology, in terms of both hardware and software, as well as computer communications and networking incorporating Local Area Networks (LANs), Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), and Wide Area Networks (WANs) together with network management.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Applicable Mathematics.

Specific Requirements

The STAT is not accepted for entry to this course.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is three years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Career Opportunities

The choice of topics and structure of the course will enable graduates to compete successfully in the job market and satisfy the need for competent network and Information Technology managers.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.

Special Note

This course replaces the existing Bachelor of Applied Science (Computer Technology) from 2002. Students undertaking that course are required to complete the original requirements within three years or transfer to the new course. Students transferring to the new course may be required to complete additional units to meet the new course requirements which will increase the stated course duration.
