Introduction
This course provides higher education in the fields of fashion and textiles allowing a choice in a diverse range of opportunities possible in key international industry. It encourages an innovative approach to fashion and textiles with technical competency and industry expertise. The practice of research, analysis, ideation, production and communication is underpinned by the process of design and is reflected in the project work undertaken. The course provides a theoretical and contextual framework for understanding national and international perspectives and trends of the fashion and textiles industry. A unique aspect of this exciting degree is the synthesis of the philosophies from the School of Art and the School of Design creating a new innovativeapproach to the business of fashion and textiles.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
In addition to meeting the University's entry requirements all applicants local and international are required to present to the School a folio of work and attend a personal interview. Recognition of prior learning will be negotiated on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This course is of three years full-time study.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may enter national and international areas of the Fashion and Textile industry, as producers and retailers, design entrepreneurs, freelance designers and consultants, journalists, stylists, photographers, illustrators, public relations, costume for theatre and film costumers and designers of surface and soft furnishings.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
