Introduction

The course is designed to suit the various objectives of those who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in business and management at this level. The purposes of the course are - to develop expertise in a functional area of business and management through a combination of advanced studies in the field. To explore a particular aspect of a functional area of business and management through an in-depth research study following a previous course of study which emphasised research preparation and provide a course framework which also develops corporate planning strategies.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution, or an equivalent qualification, and a minimum of three years professional experience or an appropriate honours degree, first or second class. Students may enter with qualifications in disciplines other than business, but should, in that case, be prepared to undertake additional units at graduate level to provide them with a broad foundation in commerce.

Duration and Availability

This course is by research and normally requires one to two years of full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the Postgraduate Coordinator, Graduate School of Business.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.

Special Note

It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one-third by coursework. Students should not enrol in this research course to receive a relevant postgraduate diploma but rather have undertaken it as a requisite for admission.
