| Syllabus: | This unit develops students’ effective patient and inter-professional communication, including building trusting relationships with patients and professional colleagues, effective professional decision - making, articulation of decisions and advanced patient interview and response skills. Students apply the concepts of adherence and concordance; and assess compliance. The unit develops students’ skills in clinical, ethical and legal reasoning as part of decision-making in pharmacy. Students learn to accurately perform advanced pharmaceutical calculations, prevention of errors using root cause analysis, adverse drug reaction reporting, consumer protection, product liability, unapproved medicines, off-label prescribing and safe medication practices. Students also learn about professional pharmaceutical services including prescription dispensing, PPIs, MedsCheck, screening), health promotion, bioequivalence and generic medicines. |
