Course Overview
Master Degrees (Research) prepare students to apply advanced knowledge for research, scholarship and further learning corresponding to AQF level 9 qualifications.
This course requires students to undertake a major research project exploring a particular aspect of management. These specialised areas of management may include: strategic management, international management, tourism management, administrative management, human resource management and entrepreneurship, and small business management.
Professional Recognition
Depending upon the major area of study chosen, graduates may be eligible for membership to the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Management.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks and other essential study materials.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Master Degree (Research) are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://research.curtin.edu.au/guides. Applicants require a Bachelor Degree with a strong academic performance and may also require relevant substantial work experience or Bachelor Honours Degree (first or second class) or Graduate Diploma. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Specifically, applicants require an Honours degree in business, economics or commerce (minimum second class, div A), or a graduate diploma in business, economics or commerce.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Course Organisation
Master Degrees (Research) require students to undertake an approved research program leading to a thesis for independent examination; they may include advanced level coursework studies.
This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the postgraduate coordinator, School of Management. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. to produce graduates who embody the University's values of internationalisation and are well-equipped to translate those values to their management careers
2. to develop students' capacities in both communication and analytical skills
3. to foster students' capabilities in internationalising business activities
