| Syllabus: | Students will apply the skills developed through academic and professional practice, analysing competing news values and employing appropriate technical production skills to ensure complex ideas are communicated to their audiences. Depending on the area of specialisation, they will work individually or in groups to undertake research, planning, collecting and editing of stories using industry standard digital equipment. They will also incorporate those materials into publications, broadcasts or digitally-distributed formats intended for the wider community, and throughout these processes, they will also reflect on their professional practice and work through key themes impacting on journalism. Fieldwork is a component of this unit. |
