Syllabus:

Drug stability - stability indicating assays. Chemical decomposition including hydrolysis, oxidation and photolysis. Effects of pH, solvent, dielectric constant and ionic strength on drug stability. Formulation of polypeptides. Sterilisation - dry heat, moist heat and other forms of sterilisation. Sterilisation testing. Radiopharmacy. Dissolution and bioavailability. In vivo determination of bioavailability using plasma and urinary data. Bioequivalence of drug products. Antimicrobial preservatives - incidence of microbial contamination and standards for the microbiological quality of pharmaceuticals. Choice of antimicrobial agent in formulated products. Drug delivery systems and drug targeting.
