Introduction to neuropsychiatry, neuropathophysiological and neuropsychiatric processes in childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age. Addresses anxiety disorders, mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorders) psychotic disorders (including schizophrenia), personality disorders, eating disorders, substance-related disorders and comorbidity. Internalising and externalising disorders of childhood and adolescence, including pervasive and specific developmental disorders. Dementias. Intellectual disorders. Aetiology, clinical features, impact on function of psychiatric conditions. Multidisciplinary psychopharmacological and psychosocial interventions. Evaluation and application of psychiatric classification systems. Prevalence, burden of care, ethical and medicolegal issues of psychiatric disorders. |
