Syllabus:

Tools of molecular genetics - enzymes, cloning vectors, labelling of DNA. Nucleic acid manipulation techniques - DNA, RNA extraction and hybridisation. Genomic and DNA library construction and screening. Polymerase chain reaction - principle methods, applications in clinical diagnosis. DNA sequencing and applications - site-directed mutagenesis. Applications of DNA technology - genetic disease and cancer diagnosis. Gene therapy and genetic counselling.
