This course has been developed to provide graduates with the opportunity to continue their professional development as a lifelong learner. Students are provided with advanced theoretical knowledge, contemporary clinical practice and clinical research opportunities.
An appropriate entry level qualification in physiotherapy. A bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in physiotherapy from a recognised tertiary institution including a minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience at a postgraduate level. These applicants must either be registered physiotherapists in Western Australia or be eligible for temporary registration from the Physiotherapists Registration Board of Western Australia.
Students are required to be registered with the Physiotherapist Registration Board of Western Australia if they undertake a unit involving clinical practice within Australia. Evidence of successful completion of an approved course in (CPR) first aid is required before an award is granted. Prospective applicants are advised that the program requires full participation in laboratory classes where practical skills and topics are presented. Essential learning strategies demand that all students disrobe appropriately to act as subjects for their peer group.
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Successful applicants may apply for recognition of prior learning of up to four full units based on 24 months of full-time relevant clinical experience. Documentation and evidence must be submitted detailing hours and caseload.
This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study and is also offered externally.
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.
Postgraduate Diploma Clinical Physiotherapy, Graduate Certificate Clinical Physiotherapy
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
