Introduction
Those with management and supervisory experience within industry can develop a detailed understanding of contemporary environmental issues, the problems and possible solutions, and a working knowledge of how to apply contemporary 'best practice' managerial techniques to improve environmental outcomes and business opportunities for organisations. An emphasis is placed on developing a practical knowledge base and in developing strategic business skills that will allow firms to generate better environmental outcomes as well as improved business performance.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelor's degree in a field other than business, economics or commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. OR Significant professional experience.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Career Opportunities
Substantial opportunities exist for employment as environmental health and safety managers, as mining corporations, large local corporates such as CSBP, Shell and Alcoa, non-government environmental organisations and as staff of government agencies such as the Department of Environmental Protection, Environment Australia and local government environmental regulators.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials. If environmental biology units are undertaken additional costs may be incurred for field trips.
