Course Overview
Graduate Certificates prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.
This multidisciplinary course provides a foundation in the key disciplines that constitute the area of health administration. It is suitable for health service personnel from a variety of areas desiring to enhance their knowledge of policy and management issues within the context of healthcare provision.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Graduate Certificate are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent credit gained for recognised learning. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Specifically, applicants require a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a reconised tertiary institution.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Course Organisation
Graduate Certificates contain a series of units which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences.
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply knowledge in the area of health service management
2. think creatively, critically and reflectively to generate innovative solutions for decision making in health service organizations both nationally and internationally
3. access and critically analyse effectively, information drawn from multiple sources
4. communicate effectively in ways appropriate to the audience or situation
5. use current technologies applicable to health care organizations effectively
6. demonstrate effective self management skills
7. analyse health care sysems in comparative perspective
8. provide ethical and professional standards of health service management with sensitivity to political, social, cultural, geographical, technological and global influences
9. work and collaborate effectively in a team and develop leadership skills
Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study and is offered both internally and fully online. Mid year commencement is available but applicants should be aware that they may not be able to study in full time mode.
