Syllabus: | Introduction to ultrasound practice. The role of the sonographer. Sono ergonomics, medico-legal issues and ethics. Patient care including infection control and emergency procedures. Biological hazards and safety issues including the ALARA principle as related to sonography. Quality control (equipment based). Introductory research techniques. Additional Tuition Pattern: This unit will be delivered fully externally. The student will have no compulsory attendance at the university during the semester. The student will receive a study guide at the commencement of the semester that outlines the activities to be completed on a week by week, module by module basis. WebCT will be utilised to deliver ilectures, discussion forums, wikis, areas to upload interesting cases and allow the student to access additional resource material and activities. E-Reserve will provide access to additional journals etc. The student will have regular contact and feedback with the unit coordinator via email and the discussion forums. |
