Syllabus: | An in-depth examination of unit, integration and system testing and the maintenance of large software-based systems. Topics include automated regression testing, equivalence partitioning and boundary-value analysis. Testing approaches based on decision tables, graph theory, finite-state machines, formal specifications and method assertions. Fault seeding and statistical approaches to testing. Testing of graphical user interfaces. Stress testing. Test-driven development and extreme programming. Development of a software configuration management plan encompassing tool selection, identification of artefacts, baseline and change control, measurement, auditing and reporting and release of deliverables. Maintenance processes, including identification and classification of changes, cost and estimation and strategies for reuse and reverse engineering. |
