This course provides higher education in the fields of fashion and textiles, providing a diverse range of career opportunities. The Departments of Design and Art collaborate on this course, ensuring that students develop the creative and technical skillsnecessary for an innovative approach to fashion and textiles with a focus on creative thinking. This course is based on an exploration of the relationships between textiles, garments and the body. The practices of research, analysis, ideation, productionand communication are underpinned by the principles of design, process and art, which is reflected in the project work undertaken. Fashion is strongly linked to culture and has a prominent place in the media; this course also provides a theoretical and contextual framework for understanding the cultural significance and practices within the fashion industry.
Standard Curtin University entry requirements. All applicants will need to sit an interview and folio review. TISC Applicants will receive an invitation to interview in November using the mailing address registered with TISC. Interviews are conducted at the beginning of December. Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Graduates may enter national and international areas of the fashion and textile industry as producers and retailers, design entrepreneurs, freelance designers and consultants, journalists, stylists, photographers, illustrators, public relations, costume for theatre and film costumers and designers of surface and soft furnishings.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
