Prerequisite(s): 302240 (v.3) ChE 227 Process Principles or any previous version
Syllabus: Engineering design, flowsheets, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). Material selection and applications, including American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) standards. Piping systems design: fluid flow/pipe friction and mechanical design of piping systems. Valves. Prime movers. Pressure vessels. Foundation and structural design. Equipment design: rules of thumb, preliminary sizing, scale-up and mixing. Utilities: steam systems, plant gases and refrigeration systems.
