This course is designed for those interested in studying the theory and practice of teaching in higher, technical and further education. Practical application of theory is emphasised and opportunity is given for the application of theory to educational practice. Fieldwork forms an integral part of several units and focuses on activities related to teaching and learning, and the development and assessment of learning units and materials.
A bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification, from a recognised institution. Students in this course must provide evidence of teaching, training or staff development responsibilities in which the practical requirements of the course can be satisfied.
This fee-paying course is two semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Students normally complete this course on a four semester part-time basis. The units will be offered through a variety of flexible and open learning modes.
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:
Graduate Certificate in Education Tertiary Teaching and Graduate Certificate in Training and Development.
A coordinated program of eight units from the optional units listed will be selected in consultation with the Training and Development Courses Coordinator.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
