Syllabus:

This unit focuses on the role of the laboratory in providing tests for the diagnosis and management of diseases. This unit includes methods for determining the predictive value of laboratory tests based on the specificity and sensitivity of the test and the prevalence of the disease/condition in the population under test. Principles are illustrated by examples chose from the main fields of diagnostic medical science.
