This Collaborative program is undertaken at the four Western Australian public universities - Curtin University of Technology, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University and The University of Western Australia. It is designed for professionals wanting to obtain a wide ranging, multi-disciplinary qualification in the transport field and draws on the established strengths of the four universities, exploiting the transport and planning specialisation from each.
A four year degree or a three year degree in a related discipline including planning, engineering, economics, commerce and/or business and work experience as deemed appropriate by the course coordinator.
No exemption or recognition of prior learning (RPL) will be awarded.
This course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is planned that this course will be offered to domestic fee-paying students as well as international on-shore students. It is anticipated that the first intake will be in 2007.
Students undertake four core units, one for each of the four participating universities.
Graduates will find employment in transport related industries in the planning and infrastructure fields of government and in the private sector, including planning and transport consultants, bus operating companies, airport operators, railway companies,freight transport and shipping companies.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
Students may enrol at any one of the four participating institutions to undertake this collaborative program provided they satisfy course entry / prerequisite requirements. Curtin course enrolling students - students who have nominated Curtin as their enrolling institution will be admitted at Curtin, undertake Curtin units and complete units at the other participating institutions on a cross-institutional basis. All units undertaken will appear in the Curtin academic transcript. Curtin will award the degree on satisfactory completion and the Award will bear the crests of all participating institutions. Non-Curtin course enrolling students - students who have nominated another of the participating institutions as their enrolling institution will complete Curtin units cross-institutionally under a non-award program and have those units credited towards their degree. Unit fees are paid at each institution where units are undertaken.
