Those with management and supervisory experience within industry can develop a detailed understanding of contemporary environmental issues, the problems and possible solutions, and a working knowledge of how to apply contemporary 'best practice' managerial techniques to improve environmental outcomes and business opportunities for organisations. An emphasis is placed on developing a practical knowledge base and strategic business skills that will allow firms to generate better environmental outcomes as well as improved business performance.
A bachelor degree in a field other than business, economics or commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution, or significant professional experience.
This fee paying course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Substantial opportunities exist for employment as environmental health and safety managers within mining corporations, large local corporations such as CSBP, Shell and Alcoa, non-government environmental organisations and as staff of government agencies such as the Department of Environmental Protection, Environment Australia and local government environmental regulators.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials. If environmental biology units are undertaken additional costs may be incurred for field trips.
