This course has been developed to allow practitioners to develop skills in communicating health to populations, communities, groups and individuals. The core areas of health promotion are covered - planning, methods, evaluation, research and working withmedia. Health promotion graduates will choose more optional units in place of core unit content that they have previously studied. Both media and health professionals can then follow their personal interests via coursework (including media production units) and projects during the equivalent of three semesters full time study. Interest areas can include - behaviour change communication, cross-cultural communication, radio, video, television, Internet, journalism, performance arts, marketing, public relations, advertising, interpersonal communication, group training, community development and communication with Indigenous people. These areas can be considered within the Australian or international health context.
A relevant bachelor degree plus two years of relevant post-bachelor degree experience. Work experience is assessed on the basis of level of seniority and responsibility, job description, work-based referee report, publications or other written reports, short courses or conference attendance.

This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.
A student who has completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval from the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course are:
