Syllabus: This unit is designed for students in the Master of Science (Computer Science). Discusses the motivations behind the emergence of Object Oriented Enterprise Frameworks (OOEF) and details the essential criteria required for an OOEF (mature runtime, extensibility, enduring business objects, distributed objects, integration ofmultiple applications and legacy components). It uses the (currently popular) .NET and J2EE frameworks as case studies for elaborating on the criteria, and discusses the compromises and strengths of each framework.
