Syllabus: |
An introduction to the history of the representation of the landscape. Designed to give students an introduction to the social contexts in which shifts of meaning for the landscape have developed. It will be argued that the idea of the landscape is stillcentral to the project of art and that some of the more recent developments in landscape art reflect deep social and philosophical positions that may not be so obvious in traditional readings of the landscape. |
