Syllabus: Designed for students who have passed TEE Physics or equivalent. Elasticity - elastic, shear and bulk moduli. Oscillations - simple harmonic motion. Wave motion. Superposition and standing waves. Electromagnetic waves and light. Properties of light. Interference and Diffraction - coherence and Young's experiment, diffraction and resolution, diffraction gratings.. Quantum physics - molecules and solids, molecular bonding, structure of solids, semiconductors, semiconductor junctions and devices. Nuclear physics - properties of nuclei and radioactivity.
