It provides graduates from disciplines other than metallurgy with knowledge and understanding of selected areas of extractive metallurgy. Recognition of Prior LearningApplications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Duration and AvailabilitySix months full-time equivalent - available by part-time, external study. Course OrganisationThis course provides basic knowledge in three subject areas fundamental to extractive metallurgy, namely in mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy plus another area such as process control, engineering metallurgy and finance and management. Each student's selection of units (subjects) must be approved by the course co-ordinator, after consultative consideration of the student's background and educational needs. Career OpportunitiesGraduates can expect to obtain employment within the minerals industry in the area of extractive metallurgy, or to further their current careers in extractive metallurgy within the minerals industry.
