Introduction

Designed for professional logistics and supply chain specialists who are interested in significantly advancing their careers in the area of logistics and IT management. Areas of study include principles of logistics management, global distribution and transportation, materials management, logistics information systems, business IT management, managing information systems projects and risks, strategic alignment of information systems, strategic logistics management, and global business and logistics. The course will meet the needs of those professionals with technical and supervisory skills in logistics and supply chain management, and IT management.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A degree from a recognised institution in field other than logistics or IT management with a course average of no less than 60 per cent, or equivalent, and at least two years relevant industry experience, or a Graduate Diploma in Logistics and IT Management with a course average of no less than 70 per cent. In addition to the above requirements, if the degree was not completed in English, applicants must meet Curtin University English competency.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Intermediate Awards

A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or the Graduate Diploma in Logistics and IT Management may, in exceptional circumstances, apply for graduation in that award, subject to the approval of the Head of School. Course Organisation

Consists of 12 units of study each carrying 25 credits, totalling 300 credits. One and half years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Students will develop a deeper understanding of enterprise logistics management, global distribution and transportation, materials management, IT management, strategic procurement and managing information systems projects and risks, research methods, and global business and the role of information technology in facilitating logistics activities.

Professional Recognition

Graduates are eligible to apply for membership in the Chartered Institution of Transport and membership in the Logistics Association of Australia (LAA).

Career Opportunities

Students who have successfully completed this course generally find employment in management roles within private and public organisations, utilising logistics and IT management.
