Introduction
Designed for professional logistics specialists who are interested in significantly advancing their careers in the area of logistics and strategic procurement. Areas of study include principles of logistics management, global distribution and transportation, materials management, logistics information systems, managing information systems projects and risk, purchasing and procurement, strategic procurement, strategic logistics management, and global business and logistics. This course will meet the needsof those professionals with technical and supervisor skills in logistics and strategic procurement.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A degree from a recognised institution in field other than logistics or strategic procurement with a course average of no less than 60 per cent, or equivalent and at least two years relevant industry experience, or a Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Strategic Procurement with a course average of no less than 70 per cent. In addition to the above requirements, if the degree was not completed in English, applicants must meet Curtin University English competency.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or the Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Strategic Procurement may, in exceptional circumstances, apply for graduation in that award subject to the approval of the Head of School. For further definition, refer to the Intermediate Awards section under General Information.
Course Organisation
Consists of 12 units of study each carrying 25 credits, totalling 300 credits. Students will develop a deeper understanding of enterprise logistics and strategic procurement including global distribution and transportation, materials management, strategic procurement, purchasing and procurement and managing information systems projects and risks, research methods, and global business and the role of information technology in facilitating logistics and strategic procurement.
Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible to apply for membership in the Chartered Institution of Transport and membership in the Logistics Association of Australia (LAA).
Career Opportunities
Graduates generally find employment in management roles within private and public organisations, utilising logistics and strategic procurement.
