Introduction

Provides an agribusiness management and marketing education and training combined with technical training in equine science, equine breeding and equine nutrition. The learning model enables research skills that will enable graduates to assume leadershiproles within the equine industry as well as in the broader agribusiness sector.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Refer to admissions into Honours Degree programs and Regulations for Honours Degrees (General Information section of the Curtin Courses Handbook). Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated an ability and interest in research and a commitment to academic excellence.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This course is one year full time or equivalent part-time study.Part-time students are expected to complete within two years.

Course Organisation

This program consists of project work over two semesters. Agribusiness Project Design 401 is undertaken as the first stage of students project work. Agribusiness Honours Project 402 is the final component of the research project and covers the execution and writing of the project begun in Agribusiness Project Design 401. A detailed review of the relevant literature will be developed under the guidance of the supervisor and if necessary, refine the program objectives. The necessary research and analytical skills will be developed that are required to assemble and analyse the results of the dissertation.

Professional Recognition

Graduates are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute Agricultural Science [AIAIS].

Career Opportunities

Graduates will find employment with industries associated with the equine industry, including consultants, in feed and allied equine health companies.
