This course is pending registration for International Onshore Students on Student Visas. Please contact the Curtin International Office to determine availability for International students.

Introduction

This course is an ideal starting point for those wishing to enhance their skills and upgrade their formal qualifications. Successful completion allows a progression to the Master of Future Studies.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Exemptions should be discussed with the academic coordinator and applications made when enrolling.

Duration and Availability

The minimum course duration is two semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Intermediate Awards

A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Futures Studies may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award, subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.

Course Organisation

The course consists of eight units, six of them delivered in an intensive, block format at two full days per week for three weeks. The electives (dependent on choice) may be undertaken in a different format and are selected after discussion with the academic coordinator.

Career Opportunities

There are many opportunities to apply the skills learnt in this Graduate Diploma in the workplace. These opportunities exist in private, government and non-government organisations and in the areas of management, strategy, policy and planning.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
