Introduction
This course is designed to meet the needs of managers and others involved in occupational health and safety operations that integrate environmental management concerns with occupational health and safety. It is designed to advance knowledge and skills in the prevention of work related disease and injury and integration of environmental protection with management of occupational health and safety. The opportunity to specialise and undertake research in safety management, safety technology, occupational health and hygiene, environmental health management and other areas. Those demonstrating excellence in research abilities will have the opportunity to continue to doctoral studies.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A relevant bachelor degree or equivalent from an approved institution and a minimum of two years relevant work experience are required.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. The course is offered by flexible delivery mode with some units offering additional support through tutorial sessions.
Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Environmental Health Management, Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Management or the Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School. Course Organisation
Some of the units require attendance at an on-campus session during the semester. Students are advised of these requirements well in advance.
Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible for membership of the Safety Institute of Australia (not required to practice profession).
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
