Introduction
This course provides a masters degree award in urban design for professionals with existing related training intending to manage the increasingly complex problems of development, urban space and form.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Applicants should possess a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in architecture, landscape architecture or urban and regional planning, or a Graduate Certificate in Urban Design.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is one and a half years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units may be offered on a block basis either during the summer or winter vacation.
Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all of the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Urban Design may under exceptional circumstance provisions apply for graduation in that award subject to the approval of the Head of Department. Course Organisation
This course examines theoretical concepts and practical methods of urban design. It enables students to understand the processes of urban design production and consumption and to develop skills and techniques of communicating three-dimensional urban design. It develops briefing and guidance skills needed for implementing urban design proposals. Units make extensive use of case study material drawn from Australia and overseas.
