Introduction
Designed to provide the theoretical foundations and techniques of management, law, logistics purchasing, contract administration, via a case study together with practical business applications. A range of issues are studied that are applicable to strategic procurement including - competitive conduct, strategy, logistics and management.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelor degree in business, commerce or a related area together with either a postgraduate qualification in a related field or at least two years in a senior level international managerial role. Applicants with other relevant qualifications and or experience may be considered for admission but may be required to complete additional foundation units.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units are available in the evening.
Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Procurement may apply, under exceptional circumstance provisions, for graduation in that award, subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.
Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible to meet the requirements leading to full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply in the United Kingdom.
Career Opportunities
Graduates are expected to obtain employment in both the public and private sectors. Public sector employers are State Supply Commission, Department of Contract and Management Services and local government authorities. Private sector employers include large commercial organisations and mining companies.
