Selected theories about the role of middle and small powers in the international system, external (including alliances), societal, governmental, role (including bureaucratic politics), and individual sources of foreign policy. History of Australian foreign policy. Making of policy. Instruments of policy. Policy toward regions and states such as China, Japan, Indochina, Indonesia, South Asia, New Zealand, Europe, and Africa. Costs and benefits of existing policy, plus a major research paper.
