Syllabus:

Approaches to the discovery of drugs. Quantitative structure-activity relationships. Impurity profiles. Mechanisms by which drugs degrade. Introduction to nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Prodrugs. Medicinal chemistry of selected drug groups. Analysis of drugs in therapeutic formulations and biological fluids. General principles of toxicology. Concepts of quality assurance.
