Syllabus:

Drilling and fragmentation as part of the mine to mill system. Exploration and production drilling, optimisation of drilling performance. Explosive - safety and regulations, types, properties and mining applications. Surface and underground blasting, optimising patterns, explosives and initiation systems in relation to the rock mass environment and production requirements. Blast vibrations, damage and fragmentation. Mechanical fragmentation of material - drag bits as in continuous miners, road headers and longwall drum shearers - indentors as in tunnel boring machines and raise borers.
