Stresses in thin wall cylindrical pressure vessels. Bearing stresses. Stresses in beams due to bending and shear. Torsional stress in circular shafts and design of shaft couplings and keys. Bending of composite beams. Mohr's circle of stresses. Deflection of beams. Buckling of struts. Introduction to statically indeterminate structures. Introduction to design of structural members. Structural steel connections. Applications to the minerals industry.
