Syllabus:

Slope deflection method and its applications to frames with and without sway. Moment distribution method and its application to frames without sway, with sway, with sloping members and multi-storey frames. Virtual work for frames and trusses. Influence lines for determinate and indeterminate frames. Influence lines for determinate trusses. Plastic hinges and collapse mechanisms, plastic analysis of framed structures. Civil analysis, tolerance and risk - collection and classification of data in civil engineering projects and installations. Application of statistical models to civil and structural engineering work. Specification of tolerances, acceptance criteria and evaluation of risks.
