Syllabus: |
Phase equilibria and simple thermodynamics applicable to geological systems. Two and three component phase diagrams related to igneous and metamorphic petrology. Use of geochemistry and geochemical variation diagrams in petrogenetic modelling. Element classification and behaviour. Eh / pH diagrams and their application to chemical weathering and environmental geochemistry. Geochemistry of ore forming processes. Environmental impacts of mine drainage. |
