Syllabus: |
Mechanical energy - kinetic and potential energy, gravitation, friction, conservation of momentum and energy. Heat energy - nature of heat, sources of heat, thermal properties of matter, heat transfer and losses. Technological applications - for example,air conditioning and refrigeration systems, insulation. Electrical energy - charge, potential, current, resistance. Circuit operations, power, generation, transmission, conservation. Nuclear energy - atomic structure, the nucleus, binding energy, conservation of mas energy, fission, fusion, nuclear reactors, problems/benefits of nuclear power. |
