Course Entry Requirements/PrerequisitesTEE Discrete Mathematics for the Mineral Processing, Mine Surveying, Geoscience and Mining major. Specific RequirementsSTAT elements considered are E and Q for the Mineral Processing, Mine Surveying, Geoscience and Mining Major. NoteMineral Processing Major - Well qualified applicants lacking prerequistes may still be considered for all courses. Further, the Associate Degree may be used as a pathway into the science course and science students may transfer to engineering after satisfactory performance at university. Mine Surveying Major - Applicants for either course without one TEE mathematics subject may still be considered, but required to complete bridging units. Geoscience Major - The Associate Degree may be used as a pathway into the science course after satisfactory performance at university. Mining Major - Well qualified applicants lacking prerequistes may still be considered for all courses. The Associate Degree may be used as a pathway into the science course and science students may transfer to engineering after satisfactory performance at university. Recognition of Prior LearningApplications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Duration and AvailabilityThis course is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study. The first year is taken at the Bentley Campus in Perth. The second year of the course must be taken at the Kalgoorlie Campus. Additional Course ExpensesStudents may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study. Students undertaking mine surveying majors are required to have access to a portable electronic programmable calculator having hard wired trigonometrical subroutines and a minimum capacity of ten significant figures.
